SO/ Berlin Das Stue will be converted into the Sofitel Berlin Das Stue in a move to strengthen Sofitel’s presence in Germany. The 78-room hotel, located on the edge of Berlin’s Tiergarten, will officially join the Sofitel network in the first quarter of 2027, combining its unique heritage and renowned design with the French flair and genuine, committed luxury that define Sofitel.
Sofitel Berlin Das Stue will bring a strong sense of local character to one of the city’s most renowned luxury boutique addresses. Housed in a listed 1930s neoclassical building that originally served as the Danish Royal Embassy, the hotel has become a benchmark for refined contemporary design and genuine luxury. The property retains its Danish identity, reflected in its name, “Das Stue,” meaning “living room,” a tribute to the building’s diplomatic origins.

This transition marks an important step in Sofitel’s European development strategy, adding a particularly unique luxury property to the brand’s growing collection of iconic hotels in strategic cities.
“Berlin is one of Europe’s most dynamic cultural capitals, a city that is constantly reinventing itself while preserving its exceptional heritage. Sofitel Berlin Das Stue perfectly embodies this balance,” says Maud Bailly, CEO Sofitel, Sofitel Legend, MGallery and Emblems. “Its rich history, unique character, exceptional design, and prime location make it a remarkable addition to the Sofitel family.

“We are delighted to welcome this iconic address to our portfolio and look forward to bringing Sofitel’s signature French art of living to this extraordinary hotel, while preserving the authenticity and uniqueness that have made Das Stue so beloved by guests from around the world.”
Located in Berlin’s prestigious embassy district, the hotel offers a peaceful urban retreat just steps from the city’s main cultural and diplomatic landmarks. Some rooms even offer direct views of the zoo’s animal enclosures, creating a particularly immersive connection with nature in the heart of the German capital.

As part of its transition to the Sofitel brand, the hotel will undergo a carefully designed improvement program to align it with Sofitel standards while preserving its unique character and renowned aesthetic. The planned improvements include guest room renovations, new bedding and textiles, refreshed common areas, updated signage, renovated corridors, and a reimagined lobby experience incorporating new artistic and decorative elements.
The arrival of Sofitel Berlin Das Stue further strengthens Sofitel’s strategic development in 15 key European destinations , with the opening of Sofitel Dublin also planned for 2027 , consolidating the brand’s portfolio of luxury hotels in some of the world’s most desirable urban markets. As Sofitel continues its international expansion, the brand remains committed to offering unique luxury experiences, seamlessly blending local culture, French elegance, and refined hospitality.
