    10. Iberico Ham

    Iberico ham is a type of cured meat from Portugal and Spain. Usually using free-range pigs as raw materials that are fed acorns during the last phase of their life. This meat requires preservation for 36 months so the price offered is very high, namely US$392 (Rp5.8 million) for every one kilogram.

    9. Manuka Honey

    Manuka honey is produced by bees that consume the nectar of Manuka Bush flowers (Leptospermum scoparium). Many people believe that this sweet food contains antiviral, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds. For every one kilogram of honey from New Zealand you need to spend US$500 (Rp7.4 million).

    8. Reindeer Milk Cheese

    So far, perhaps you know cheese as processed cow’s milk. But the Moose House farm in Sweden exclusively makes moose milk cheese. There are about three types of Moose cheese, namely rind-style, feta-style, and blue cheese. Because it is made in very limited quantities, the price offered reaches US$500 (Rp7.4 million) per pound. So this cheese is included in the list of the most expensive foods in the world.

    7. Matsutake Mushrooms

    Matsutake mushrooms grow wild in Asia, North America and Europe. This mushroom is a typical cooking ingredient for the elite in China, Japan and Korea. Unfortunately, due to the invasion of competing plants and insects, the place where they lived began to be eroded. So, if you want to try it, you have to prepare US$600 (Rp8.9 million) per kilogram.

    6. White Truffles

    White truffles can be found in the Piedmont region, Northern Italy. However, to get it, hunters have to look for certain types of trees. Known to have a very strong distinctive aroma, Truffles are a luxury food. Due to limited availability, the price is set at US$2,100 to 2,500 (Rp31.3 million – 37.3 million) per kilogram.

    The reason Saffron is nicknamed Red Gold is because its value is much higher than gold, namely US$500 to 2,000 (Rp7.4 million – 29.8 million) per pound. One type of spice is picked from the body of the Crocus flower which is only harvested for a few weeks a year. To get one kilogram of saffron, farmers have to pick flowers twice the size of a football field.

    4. Ayam Cemani (Cemani Chicken)

    This black chicken from Indonesia is believed to be closely related to magical abilities. Cemani chicken meat is claimed to be efficacious in curing all kinds of diseases as well as bringing good fortune. To enjoy one of the most expensive foods in the world, you have to spend US$2,500 (Rp37.3 million) per head depending on size.

    3. Bluefin Tuna

    Bluefin Tuna is a valuable item for the Japanese people. The reason is, one of the most expensive foods in the world is seafood. Because it has a higher fat content than other types of tuna, the savory taste produced by Bluefin is much better. The price offered is US$3,603 (Rp53.8 million) per pound.

    2. Yubari King Melon

    Giving Yubari King Melons is considered a luxurious gift for Japanese people. The combination of sweet and delicious flavors makes anyone addicted to eating this food. In 2008, to buy these two melons, consumers had to spend US$27,229 (Rp406 million).

    1. Almas Caviar

    The title of most expensive food in the world was won by Almas Caviar. Albino sturgeon fish eggs can only be obtained almost once every 100 years. The price of one kilogram of fish eggs is equivalent to the price of several cars, namely US$34,500 (Rp515 million).
