Masayoshi Son surpasses Tadashi Yanai, becoming the richest person in Japan

According to Forbes data updated at 0:15 on August 31, SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son owns a net worth of about 62.1 billion USD, ranking 32nd in the list of the richest people in the world.

Compared to 63.6 billion USD at 2:45 PM on August 22, Mr. Son’s assets decreased by about 1.5 billion USD.

Despite declining assets, Masayoshi Son still rose to the position of Japan’s richest person due to the sharp decrease in assets of Tadashi Yanai and his family in the same period.

Mr. Son’s assets are heavily influenced by the value of shares in SoftBank Group as well as the technology investments that this group holds.

Tadashi Yanai and his family’s assets decreased by 2.1 billion USD

Ranked third in the group is billionaire Takemitsu Takizaki, founder of Keyence, with a net worth of about 24.5 billion USD.

Forbes currently ranks Mr. Takizaki at 106th in the list of the richest people in the world.

Compared to 23.8 billion USD on August 22, his assets increased by about 700 million USD.

Keyence operates in the field of sensors, measuring equipment and factory automation solutions. The value of shares in the company is an important component in Mr. Takizaki’s assets.

Yasumitsu Shigeta’s assets increased, Takao Yasuda’s assets decreased slightly

Fourth in the list is Yasumitsu Shigeta with assets of about 6.4 billion USD, ranking 646th in the world according to Forbes.

Compared to 4.5 billion USD on August 22, Mr. Yasuda’s assets decreased by about 100 million USD.

The asset value of billionaires is estimated by Forbes in real time, based on stock price fluctuations, exchange rates and investment value. Therefore, the data may change continuously and does not reflect the entire actual assets of each individual.
