IHG Hotels & Resorts unveiled the first look at Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud, marking the highlight anticipated debut of the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand in Indonesia.

The luxury lifestyle hotel is set to open later this year in the heart of Ubud, Bali, bringing Kimpton’s signature style of personalised hospitality, thoughtful design and community-focused experiences to one of Indonesia’s most popular destinations.

Prime Location in the Heart of Ubud

Located on Jalan Bisma,  Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud is walking distance from some of Ubud’s most well-known attractions including the Ubud Art Market, Ubud Palace, and the Water Palace, which was designed by renowned Balinese artist Gusti Nyoman Lempad.

The hotel aims to offer guest an experience that is closely connected to Bali’s culture, creativity and local community.

    Signature Kimpton Experiences

Guest staying at the hotel can enjoy several signature Kimpton experiences, including the complimentary “Forgot It, We’ve Got It!” programme, which provides essential travel items that guests may have left behind.

The hotel will also offer Kimpton Kickstart, which has a complimentary daily coffee, tea and pastries as well as Kimpton Social, the brand’s signature evening gathering designed to encourage conversations and connections among guests.

A Hotel Designed for Comfort and Connection

The hotel will have 101 rooms and villas, including guest rooms, spacious pool suites and private pool villas.

Austin Jones, the General Manager of  Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud, who has worked across nearly a dozen Kimpton properties around the world said this is a special milestone for the brand.

“It is an honour to introduce Kimpton to Indonesia in a place as a culturally rich and creatively alive as Ubud. We want Kimpton Suntaya to become a welcoming place where both guests and locals can experience Bali in a way that feels natural, personal, and authentic,” he said.

    Five Unique Dining Experiences

Food will also be a important part of Kimpton experience with 5 dining concepts available at the hotel. Among the highlights is Imamura Ubud, an intimate omakase restaurant led by Michelin star Chef Hirofumi Imamura.

The chef will also oversee Shaku by Imamura, which provides a modern take on traditional Japanese izakaya dining.

    Wellness Inspired by Bali

Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud will also focus on wellness with a range of facilities designed for relaxation and recovery.

Guest will have access to a two-storey fitness studio, dedicated recovery facilities featuring modern movement and contrast therapy as well as Sakshi Spa, where treatments are inspired by traditional Balinese healing practices.

The name “Suntaya” is the hotel’s philosophy. Inspired by Sanskrit, “Suniya” represents stillness while “Taya” symbolizes vitality, reflecting the balances between relaxation and energy that defines Ubud.

    Inspired by Balinese Traditions

Situated beside the Wos River, the hotel has been designed to blend naturally with the surroundings. It’s architecture created by Denton Corker Marshall follows the landscape of Ubud’s hillsides and rivers while drawing inspiration from traditional Balinese ceremonial processions, reflecting the moment, rhythm, and strong sense of community found in Balinese culture.

    Continuing Kimpton’s Global Expansion

Founded in San Francisco in 1981 by Bill Kimpton, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants introduced the concept of design-led boutique hotels in the United States. The brand later expanded to Asia with Kimpton Da An Taipei, followed by Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, Kimpton Kitaley Samui, Kimpton Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong and Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur.

This year, Kimpton is also set to open new hotels in Adelaide, New York, Rotterdam and Shanghai, expanding their global portfolio. With the opening of Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud, IHG Hotels & Resorts continues to grow it’s luxury lifestyle presence across Asia while offering travelers a new way to experience Bali through thoughtful design, local culture, and personalized hospitality.
