    Forbes has released its official “World’s Billionaires List,” which ranks the top billionaires from across the globe according to their estimated net worth.

    In this Newsweek article, we’ve listed the top 50 billionaires and included how many of the billionaires in 2026 are American.

    Forbes compiled its 2026 billionaires list using stock prices and exchange rates as of March 1. The report puts combined billionaire wealth at $20.1 trillion—up $4 trillion year over year.

    CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk is worth an estimated $839 billion and is, therefore, the richest person in the world.

    Google co‑founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin ranked second and third with estimated fortunes of $257 billion and $237 billion, followed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos at $224 billion and Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg at $222 billion.

    The top 10 also included Larry Ellison ($190 billion), Bernard Arnault and family ($171 billion), Jensen Huang ($154 billion), Warren Buffett ($149 billion), and Amancio Ortega ($148 billion).

    How Many Americans Are the World’s Richest Billionaires?

    According to Forbes, the United States has the most billionaires, with a record 989 individuals, including 15 of the world’s top 20 richest people.

    China ranks second with 610 billionaires, followed by India with 229.

    Of the 50 entries listed above, 24 are American. While Forbes’ annual World’s Billionaires List is based on a snapshot in time, the publication regularly updates individual net worth estimates as market conditions change, which can affect rankings throughout the year, including within the top 50.
