The founders of tanning and skincare empire Bali Body are selling the Brighton house they’ve called home since 2020.

Laura Foley and David Oosterloo launched the vegan-friendly, cruelty-free sun-care business in 2014, after the pair came up with the idea while taking a career break in Bali.

The brand has since notched a $30m deal with Coles, is aiming to hit $70m in sales by 2028 and has broken into the US market via an arrangement with American retailer Target as part of the 150 countries where their products are now stocked.

They’ve just listed the home for sale with a $10.75m-$11.5m asking price.

Records show they bought the home for $9.75m in 2020, from Nick Mckimm the founder of design and building firm mckimm.

Vast expanses of concrete defy gravity throughout the home thanks to a clever cantilevered design that is accentuated by a focus on natural light filtering throughout its living spaces via structural walls of glass and kept cosy with heating built into the polished concrete floors.

The listing comes about 18 months after they sold their former home in Mt Martha for $4.7m.

Brighton real estate mainstay Andrew Campbell, who recently opened the suburb’s first Sotheby’s International Realty office, said a handful of buyers had inspected the 1040sq m property so far.

And for many the first step into the foyer concealed behind the residence’s unassuming facade had stopped them in their tracks.

“We are getting people coming back for a second inspection because of that first moment,” Mr Campbell said.

“You feel like you could have walked into the foyer of a luxury hotel.”

Where the exterior evokes a sense of security and privacy, inside there is light and space—with a void soaring overhead the moment you step through the front door.

From there, a sitting room with a fireplace offers space to host guests without delving further into the home.

But day to day, the agent said it was likely most people would be drawn through to the kitchen where expansive glazing commanded a view out to the pool, backyard sporting field and the home’s primary living spaces.

There’s even a wellness retreat zoned off behind it with a bathroom and steam room, while four bedrooms are zoned upstairs along with three bathrooms—two of them ensuites.

A double garage, which provides half of the four off-street carparks available for the home, leads through to the home’s laundry and butler’s pantry—offering convenience as groceries and deliveries arrive.

The ground-level parking also means the basement has been freed up for a home gym, a marble-topped bar, display cellar and a sprawling rumpus room.

Mr Campbell said at the end of the day, the toughest decision future residents would make would be whether to have a glass of wine in the bar downstairs or in front of the fireplace in the sitting room.

“But this will absolutely be a family home,” he said.
