The Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Cartagena has been included in Robb Report’s prestigious list of the 50 Best Luxury Hotels in the World for 2026, becoming the only Colombian property to earn a place in a ranking that features some of the world’s most exclusive hotels.

The recognition positions Cartagena as one of Latin America‘s leading luxury travel destinations and highlights the growing international appeal of hospitality projects that combine historic heritage, contemporary design, and world-class guest experiences. To compile the ranking, Robb Report relied on evaluations from 24 luxury travel specialists, who assessed each property based on service quality, attention to detail, guest experience, architecture, design, and surroundings.

Four Seasons Cartagena: One of the World’s 50 Best Luxury Hotels

The Four Seasons Cartagena officially opened its doors on April 2, 2026, becoming the third Four Seasons property in Colombia, alongside the hotels in Bogotá and Casa Medina. Located in the historic neighborhood of Getsemani, across from Parque Centenario and just steps from Cartagena’s Walled City, the hotel offers an experience that blends the city’s rich history with the comfort of world-class luxury hospitality.

One of the aspects that most impressed the judges was the restoration of several of Cartagena’s landmark buildings. The property incorporates a 16th-century Franciscan monastery and the historic Club Cartagena, a Beaux-Arts building dating back to the 1920s. Both structures were carefully restored and repurposed to house guest rooms, restaurants, cultural spaces, and public areas while preserving much of their original architectural character.

This seamless integration of heritage and modern luxury was one of the features highlighted by Robb Report, which praised the project for its thoughtful design and adaptive reuse of extraordinary historic buildings, describing it as an outstanding example of architectural preservation within the luxury hospitality industry.

Design, dining, and a world-class guest experience

The hotel features 131 guest rooms and suites, as well as private residences designed for extended stays, all equipped with modern technology and elegant details inspired by Cartagena’s colonial architecture. The project was led by renowned French designer François Catroux, who collaborated with internationally recognized firms including WATG, Wimberly Interiors, AvroKO, and SBM Interior Design to create the property’s architectural and interior spaces.

Dining is another of the hotel’s defining attractions. Guests can choose from eight restaurants and bars serving a blend of international cuisine and Caribbean Colombian flavors, while the Umari Spa offers treatments inspired by local traditions and natural ingredients from the region. The property also features panoramic swimming pools and rooftop terraces with sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea and Cartagena’s historic center.

The combination of exceptional design, hospitality, and historic preservation earned Four Seasons Cartagena a place alongside some of the world’s finest luxury hotels. The No. 1 spot in the 2026 ranking went to Shinta Mani Mustang in Nepal, while other featured properties are located in Rwanda, Scotland, Japan, and India. In Latin America, Islas Secas in Panama was another standout destination recognized in the prestigious list.
