Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed one of its most elegant recent Bespoke commissions: Cullinan Yachting, a quartet of individually commissioned Cullinan SUVs inspired by the craftsmanship, materials and romance of life at sea.
Created as four unique motor cars themed around the cardinal points of the compass — North, South, East and West — the collection celebrates Rolls-Royce’s long-standing relationship with the world of yachting and marine design. For clients who split time between private driveways and private marinas, it may be one of the most fitting Bespoke concepts yet.
Luxury SUV meets super yacht style
Each Cullinan Yachting commission interprets nautical life through materials, colour palettes and handcrafted details more commonly associated with luxury yachts than road cars.
Marine-grade teak features prominently throughout the cabin, including the rear waterfall section, centre console lid and door panels. Selected for its authenticity and tactile warmth, the wood is a direct nod to the decks of classic and contemporary yachts.
A marquetry compass motif, made from more than 40 individual veneer pieces, sits within the rear cabin architecture, using Sycamore, Teak, Ash and Black Bolivar woods.
It is the sort of obsessive detail that defines the very best Bespoke Rolls-Royce creations.
Hand-painted fascias inspired by ocean wakes
One of the collection’s most striking features is the hand-painted fascia artwork.
Rolls-Royce artisans created intricate painted scenes inspired by the wake of a tender boat racing towards a yacht at anchor. The direction of each wake corresponds with the commission’s compass point, making every example entirely unique.
The fascia itself is finished in a bespoke shade called Piano Milori Sparkle, intended to evoke the rich blue tones of the Côte d’Azur.
A cabin styled like a first-class yacht lounge
The interiors combine Arctic White and Navy Blue leather with contrast detailing and monograms. Seat inserts feature a bespoke rigging-inspired stitched pattern referencing nautical ropework and sail craft.
Even the illuminated treadplates receive rope motifs, visible as passengers enter.
Above, each Cullinan Yachting is fitted with a one-off Starlight Headliner inspired by Mediterranean wind maps. Static and animated fibre-optic lights recreate shifting air currents across the roof lining, bringing an atmospheric sense of movement overhead.

Four directions, four distinct identities
Each of the four commissions receives its own exterior finish:
North in Crystal over Light Blue, inspired by colder northern waters
South in Crystal over Arabian Blue IV, reflecting warmer seas
East in Dark Silk Teal, evoking calm deep water
West in Sapphire Gunmetal, inspired by storm-lit ocean skies
All models feature hand-painted compass motifs on the front wings, with the relevant directional point highlighted in red, plus twin coachlines in Phoenix Red and Arctic White.
22-inch polished alloy wheels complete the look, subtly referencing yacht brightwork and deck hardware.
More than a styling exercise
Rolls-Royce says the project also honours a genuine historical connection. Company co-founder Charles Rolls served as third engineer aboard his family’s schooner-rigged steam yacht Santa Maria before becoming an automotive and aviation pioneer.
The marque also notes that yacht-inspired design themes have appeared in previous Rolls-Royce models, including the Boat Tail coachbuilt commissions and the celebrated Phantom Drophead Coupé.

In summary
The luxury SUV market is full of expensive vehicles, but very few feel genuinely special. Cullinan Yachting reminds us why Rolls-Royce continues to occupy a class of its own.
Rather than relying on obvious extravagance, this collection leans into storytelling, craftsmanship and highly personal design. It is not merely transport for yacht owners — it is a continuation of that lifestyle on land.
For ultra-high-net-worth buyers, it will be irresistible. For everyone else, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the increasingly creative world of Bespoke luxury motoring.
